INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE RALLY ON JUNE 17 2005.
! BRING YOUR UTAH & AMERICAN FLAGS! [With flag pole]
The Rally.
Thank you for participating in the Utah Minuteman Project Rally.
Here is the plan:
The rally will be held Friday June 17th beginning at 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
There are two Banks in this area of Holladay and are on the same side of the street, Zions and Wells Fargo. There is a parking lot, two small buildings and a grassy area in front of the building closest to the Wells Fargo to the north.
The grassy area between the two locations will serve as staging area for the rally - the purpose of which is to show our discontent with these Banks accepting the foreign Mexican matricula consular ID and the Driver Privilege Card issued by the State of Utah to conduct business.
The FBI and the Department of Justice say that the matricula consular ID cards are not a reliable form of identification and pose "major criminal threats" and a "potential terrorist threat."
The Mexican government has successfully lobbied many state and local governments and businesses, and most recently a federal government building in California, to accept the IDs for establishing identity, opening bank accounts, various social service uses, check cashing, and airline travel. (The enormous population of illegal aliens, currently estimated by the Census Bureau to be about fifteen million, with perhaps eight million of them from Mexico, is seen by banks as a potentially lucrative client base, for the handling charges on the money they are sending out of the country.)
There’s no way around the fact that consular ID cards are only needed by people who aren’t legally in the U.S. in the first place. Indeed, relying on the Mexican matricula for identification is tantamount to admitting that the bearer is in the U.S. illegally, as no one here legally has a need for one. Every non-citizen other than an illegal alien will possess identity documents issued by the U.S. government (such as a valid visa).
Businesses and communities that accept these IDs as valid are turning a blind eye to illegal immigration and gutting immigration law enforcement.
If you are planning on making signs, make sure they are directed in these
ways - we support repealing SB227 or, we demand that the banks stop accepting the cards. You might suggest the state government pass legislation barring the acceptance of the matricula consular ID by the driver license division and every state government agencies.
Do not direct your anger towards Mexico during this rally. All of our
messages must be directed at our state government and the banks, as they are the only ones who can solve the problem.
Because there is a potential for a hundred plus of people to show up for the
rally we must all display the utmost responsible and courteous behaviors.
Rally participants may begin arriving anytime between 1.p.m. and 3 p.m. that day.
Bring a lawn chair, refreshments and make an afternoon out of it. Stay an hour or two, meet and greet other rally participants, speak to the media and most importantly be civil. Be supportive.
Pay careful attention to all traffic safety and city laws. Use turn signals, drive
carefully, do not impede traffic; carefully pull completely off the road. Park in the areas listed at the bottom of this message. Whatever you do, do not create a need for Salt Lake County Sheriffs to site you for traffic violations. We have permission to be in the area, but please, obey all traffic regulations and do not impede foot traffic on the sidewalks or building entrances, do not trespass on any bank or private properties we do not have permission to access.
Media will be in the area on that day and will want to interview rally
participants. Be careful with the media -they can be our foe. Give them no reason to use a sound bite that will cleverly be used to make you or we look bad.
If you say anything about the people who enter our country illegally they
will portray you as a racist. The message should be that this is about
national security. Stop the criminals, stop the terrorists, protect us from
gangs -uphold the rule of law and ensure that immigrants come legally.
Be civil, be respectful, and direct all statements towards The Banks, The Utah State Government, President Bush and Congress. Please try to hold back your comments about the government of Mexico or the people who are violating our laws. Remember they will continue to do it as long as our government is remiss in enforcing the laws. There is only one way to stop the invasion and that is for our government to do its
job and seal the border and stop Aiding Illegal Immigration.
Remember to carefully park off the road and set up your chairs and signs and
stay for an hour or two. The more people who show up the better message we send. Bring video cameras to document the event and your participation. If there are opposition protestors, you can send them a message by ignoring them.
Wave, smile and ignore all idiots –let them make fools of themselves but do not stoop to their level of ignorance.
Let the media show them as the aggressors. This is a peaceful protest.
! BRING YOUR STATE FLAG! [With flag pole]
Thank you for participating in this important rally, lets get out and make state history.
